Cindyann Currency is passionate about youth and community development. Although her educational background is in Media and Communication, she developed a love for civil society when she discovered the Rotary world in 2004 and attended her first youth regional leadership conference in St. Lucia.

After pursuing her BA in Media Communication, Cindy used her love for developmental communication and applied it to her first real job experience in the NGO sector in 2010 when she worked at the YMCA as the Director of their Youth Outreach Services and made an indelible mark in implementing the Y’s flagship programme Shoot To Live.

Cindy then moved onto work with the Citizen Security Programme as a Community Action Officer in two of their at risk communities, coupling her love for development programmes and interpersonal skills to work with residents on issues that affect their community.

She is now employed as a Project Officer with the Digicel Foundation, lending support to NGOs and CBOs to implement social entrepreneurship and community development projects in Trinidad and Tobago.

In her spare time, Cindy volunteers on the Board of the YMCA Trinidad and Tobago as their sitting Treasurer and served as the Immediate Past President of the Rotaract Club of Port of Spain. Currently she is a member of the Rotary Club of Port of Spain.

Coming from a low income community her life’s mantra has always been the same- persist without exception, seek wisdom and help others along the way. Her greatest wish is to meet herself 10 years from now.
