Odetta is a Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) Specialist who has held senior positions in both the public and private sectors throughout the region. As the Rebranding Project Manager at RBC Financial Caribbean Ltd. Odetta assisted the Program Manager as part of an international team which managed nine workstreams for the Caribbean Rebranding project. The Rebranding mandate was primarily to introduce the RBC brand to internal and external stakeholders throughout the Caribbean. Project activities included the validation of action plans to ensure they fulfilled all requirements as outlined by enterprise, Canada. Prior to this, Odetta served as an Advisor at the Minister of Planning, Housing & the Environment where she not only assisted in the preparation of technical support for a National Youth Forum but also provided executive level contribution to the roll out of a national environment awareness campaign.
Odetta worked as the Communications Manger at the Caribbean HIV/AIDS Regional Training Network in Jamaica where she developed and reviewed communication materials to be used within the various units of the Network. Within civil society, Odetta also re-branded the YWCA’s “In her Shoes” Gender Based Violence Outreach campaign and has developed the Cari-Earth environment toolkit as part of the YMCA’s thrust into the area of environmental conservation. Odetta served as the Head of Stakeholder Relations at Cipriani College of Labour & Co-operative Studies where she has successfully launched the Centre for Debate and Intellectual Inquiry, developed a Health and Wellness Programme as well as PR and Communications Policy. In her most recent professional engagement, Odetta provided consultancy services as the Executive Director for one year at the Caribbean HIV/AIDS Alliance. She currently serves as the CEO of the YMCA Trinidad & Tobago and Director at Gateway Athletics International.
Odetta read for a Masters degree in Communications for Social & Behavior Change at UWI, (Mona Campus Jamaica) and a BA (Hons- Deans List) in Anthropology & Communications at York University (Toronto, Canada). Odetta has been extensively trained to develop, deliver, manage and evaluate development communication campaigns for social and behaviour change.
